Gangwon-do, with a population of 1,560,000, is located in the east region of the Korean Peninsula. It consists of one major mountain range, Taebaek, and a fewother minor mountain ranges. East of the taebaek Mountain Range is called the Yeongdong Region, while west of it is called the Yeongseo Region. The eastemborder of Ganwon-do faces the coastline, the westem border faces the capitol of Korea, Seoul, and the southem border is linked to other regions.
